Why Rey del Istmo
True age-statement rum from Panama’s oldest distillery, aged under the tropical sun by a family house with more than a century in Panama’s cane country.
10, 12, 18 and 25 years — every year on the label is a year spent in cask.
Distilled at Hacienda San Isidro in Pesé, where the Varela family has made cane spirit since 1936.
Panama’s heat draws the spirit deep into oak, building colour, spice and character.
Ingenio San Isidro was established in 1908, in the young Republic of Panama.
Varela Hermanos · Pesé, Herrera
In the heart of Pesé, Herrera, Hacienda San Isidro has carried the Varela family story for more than a century. Here, Don José Varela Blanco established Ingenio San Isidro in 1908. In 1936, the family began distilling sugar-cane spirit. Today the estate is home to Panama's oldest distillery — and it is here that Rey del Istmo is distilled.
